Introduction

The Direct Imaging Camera is a facility CCD camera at the f/17 cassegrain focus of the Lick Observatory Nickel 1-m telescope on Mt. Hamilton. A filter wheel holds up to four 2x2-inch filters for imaging over the instrument's 6.3x6.3-arcminute field.

Because the Nickel is a user-operated telescope, please also refer to the Nickel 1-m User's Guide.

The Nickel Telescope and Direct Imaging Camera are operated from the telescope control room adjacent to the dome, or may be remotely operated by qualified observers from approved off-site facilities. Prospective remote observers should refer to the Nickel 1-m Remote Observing Manual.

The Nickel Direct Imaging Camera is available to the University of California astronomical community by subscription. Please see application forms, policies, and other time request resources

All new users must be checked out by a resident astronomer on their first night.
